September 30, 1998 Full Arts and Crafts Festival Invites Children to Register for Pumpkin Portrait Contest October 10-11 at Wildlife Park |
Children ages 5 through 12 are invited to register to paint a portrait of a pumpkin at the wildlife park's 4th Annual Fall Arts and Crafts Festival. The Pumpkin Portrait Contest will take place on Saturday and again on Sunday beginning at 11:00 a.m. Parents are asked to call the park office at (352) 628-5343, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to register their children. Registration will be limited to the first 20 children registered for each day. Contestants will be provided paint, brushes and a piece of poster board. They will be given 30 minutes to finish their design. At 11:30 a.m., 3 judges will choose first, second and third place winners. Winners will receive real pumpkins to take home and decorate, ribbons and passes to visit the park with their families. The 4th Annual Arts and Crafts Festival will include 75 artists and artisans and food vendors. This will be a judged show and prizes will be awarded in arts and crafts categories. This year's Festival is being co-sponsored by the Friends of Homosassa Springs Wildlife Park and the Citrus County Chronicle. There is no admission to attend the Arts and Crafts Festival. Area businesses and individuals are encouraged to support local artists through the purchase awards. The following businesses and individuals have already sponsored purchase awards at this year's Festival: Citrus County Chronicle, Plantation Resort, WRGO 102.7 FM Radio, J. Stanley Sargeant, Warren's Book Store, Homosassa Printing (Mackler Graphics, Inc.), Carpetowne USA, The Cottage Framer, Time Warner Communications, MacRae's of Homosassa and Bay Area Air Conditioning, Mr. and Mrs. P. Webbler and Robert Boissoncault Oncology Institute (Dr. T. Brant and Dr. J. Bennett).
