Actor John Lithgow will make an appearance today at Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park to promote a children's book he completed and help raise money to protect the manatee. Lithgow will entertain with songs and storytelling from 1:45-3:45 p.m. today in the Garden of the Springs. Then he'll move to the River Pavilion to meet fans and autograph copies of his children's book I'm a Manatee. Both areas are inside the park. Copies of the story of a boy who dreams of becoming a manatee will be for sale, with all proceeds donated to the Save the Manatee Club for special manatee projects at the park. There is an admission discount today: two children admitted free when accompanied by an adult paying the regular $7.95 fee. At 5 p.m., there will be a special manatee education program.
